Is Classic Blue for You? Pantone says, "Yes"

Pantone releases their Color of the Year each December, and for 2020 Classic Blue or Pantone 190-4052 is the shade you want to use.

Usually, when you visit a hardware or interior design store and select a paint, you’re given a color guide that shows almost any hue known to humankind … most likely that booklet was created by Pantone.

Why Classic Blue?

Classic blue is a deep and dark hue shade of blue. Pantone selected the color because of the company’s desire to “highlight a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era,” according to their website.

Blue is an elegant color and also one of the most used colors for designers. According to Pantone, the color is thought-provoking and reassuring. It imprints into the human psyche as a restful color that brings peace, refuge, and tranquility.

Kravet Fabrics slants the use of classic blue ever so slightly to create soft interiors.

What Is The Pantone Color of the Year?

Pantone has been selecting Color of the Years for more than 20 years. Each year the color chosen strongly influences product development in the industrial design, interior home design, fashion design, and graphic design industries.

The Color of the Year is also never chosen at random and is picked based on an analysis of current worldwide trends. Pantone’s color experts look at the entertainment industry, art collections, fashion, travel destinations, socio-economic conditions, new technologies, and more to determine which color best reflects the upcoming year.

How is the Color of the Year Used?

You can use Classic Blue with other trending colors to create a modern palette. You can also incorporate it as one of the main colors on a brand logo, and as a dominant element in illustrations and photographs. When it comes to marketing, Classic Blue can be included in social media posts and sales materials or campaigns as a classic background.

Numerous brands use Pantone’s Color of the Year in their products and materials, including FedEx, Adobe, Kint, Kravet Fabrics, and LG VDL.
