HISTORY
It all started in 1886 when Richard Thibaut began his journey creating the “world’s largest wallpaper company”. Thibaut soon expanded and established distribution points in Boston, Newark and New York. Family owned for three generations, the company was sold to its employees and then to RPM, a specialty coatings manufacturer in 1976. In 2012, Thibaut added another jewel in the crown of impeccable design with the launch of Thibaut Fine Furniture. In addition to their wallpaper, and fabric collections, Thibaut’s Fine Furniture further establishes the Thibaut brand as the choice for high-end designers and their clients. Today, Thibaut (pronounced Tee-bo) holds the remarkable mantle as being the oldest continually operating wallpaper and fabric firm in the country. Co-owned with the Riverside Company, Thibaut remains known for both its traditional and transitional designs. Whether the desire is a traditional look, a historical reproduction, a tropical theme or bold novelty patterns, Thibaut can create each with sophistication.
