During this time, GP & J Baker have amassed an exclusive archive of prints and patterns that capture every trend since the 1800’s. These unique designs provide an incredible resource to the in-house staff that constantly refers to the archive for inspiration.
In addition to the noteworthy and exclusive array of classic prints and patterns, the GP & J Baker collection also encompasses a wide variety of multi-use fabrics perfect for upholstery and curtain work. These fabrics are available in an exciting palette of colors and textures, including linens, silks, velvets, viscose, cottons, poly-blends and more. And of course their traditional prints, highlighting impeccable artistry and beauty.
Over a century ago, James Baker and George Percival Baker, along with their other brothers Henry, Arthur and Frederick, imported the finest Persian, Turkish, and Turkoman carpets to England. By re-exporting their rugs on to Paris and the United States, the Baker brothers were on their way to establishing a foothold in the world of home décor. As time passed, GP & J Baker had grown and purchased over 400 antique block prints, with some of their most popular designs being English garden flowers. Today, the GP & J Baker archive is the foundation which the company has been built. Their designs are so well respected; they have held the title of “Holder of the Royal Warrant” since 1982, which recognizes them as the supplier of fabrics and wallcoverings to the Royal Household of the Queen of England. GP & J Baker is part of the Lee Jofa fabric family. Lee Jofa began in 1823 in New York City and is currently part of the Kravet fabric family. Kravet, established in 1918 is a fourth generation family business that is the recognized leader in home décor.
